Introducing Spark Grimsby

Exciting things are afoot for the creative industry in Grimsby, as Spark Grimsby launches a brand new “network and development programme [designed] to Spark interaction with, and amongst, those in the creative sectors”.

This is something that I am incredibly keen to support, not only because I myself am a part of the creative industry in Grimsby, but also because I have long felt that our town is severely lacking in jobs and support for the creative industry, despite the Grimsby Institute offering a whole host of degree-level courses in the Arts.

For a long time, it has been implied, that if you want to be successful in the Arts or a Creative field, then you need to move to London, or at least one of the major cities such as Manchester or Leeds. This is something that I personally have strongly refused to do, so seeing some commitment to bringing this level of support to our area is fantastic.

But who or what exactly is Spark Grimsby?

In their own words…

“Spark Grimsby is a new support programme to aid those in the creative industries in North East Lincolnshire with the growth of their business. Whether that’s through provision of advice, introductions to peer groups or accessing specific support – we’re pretty sure that we’ll have something to appeal to the range of industry types in the creative sector.

It doesn’t matter if there’s just you in your business and you run it from your kitchen table – or whether there’s a hundred of you in a bespoke unit; you’re all welcome. There’s more information about the programme on our website.

What Industries are covered?
